LakeCity Works supports people living with mental illness to build on their strengths, take on responsibilities, and access work experience, education, and employment. LakeCity Works offers support-based programs and services tailored to assist people living with mental illness, based on the belief that employment represents a crucial step in recovery.

Launched in 1972, under the Dartmouth Activity Centre name, LakeCity Works has developed an impactful presence in the community, supporting individuals wherever they are, so they can feel safe to explore, share challenges and celebrate successes. Thanks to our efforts, collaborations, and partnerships, we can bridge the gap between different services and provide a safe, self-directed pathway to employment for individuals living with mental illness.

Over the years, we have assisted thousands of individuals on their journey to living healthier lives. LakeCity Works connects people living with mental illness to employment counsellors and job coaches tasked with supporting their journey to employment. On average, we typically serve 400 clients. Services include access to employment, work readiness, volunteering, education exploration, on-site experiential opportunities, computer repair, recycling initiatives, retail experience, woodworking, and odd jobs services.
